The operation lasted for 40 hours
The Indian Navy is continuously running operations against pirates. In a similar operation, about 2600 kilometers east of the Indian coast, the Navy rescued Malta’s MV Ruen ship from the capture of pirates. According to news agency PTI, for the first time in the last seven years, a ship was rescued from Somalia’s pirates. This is the first successful operation to rescue it in this way.
The Navy deployed INS Kolkata, INS Subhadra and Sea Guardian drones during this operation that lasted for about 40 hours. After this, Special Marcos Commandos were landed from C-17 aircraft. These commandos not only freed the ship but also captured 35 pirates.
Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister also thanked
Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Maria Gabriel thanked the Indian Navy for the successful operation to rescue the hijacked ship and the crew members including seven citizens of her country. Responding to Gabriel’s post, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote, this is what friends are for.
The Navy said that MV Rouen was hijacked by Somalian pirates on December 14. About 37,800 tons of goods are loaded on this ship, whose value is about 1 million US dollars.
